In recent years, the Odenton area has outperformed and become the fastest growing area within Anne Arundel County. Located next to Fort George Meade and NSA, Odenton is also directly between Washington D.C. (17 miles), Baltimore (13 miles) and Annapolis (25 miles). Commuting to Washington D.C. is especially easy with a MARC train station located within the town.
Odenton was originally named after former governor, Oden Bowie. With the addition of train service in the late 1800's the area turned from farmland to a critical area. Development continues even today as construction has broken ground for the next Town Center or mall within the county, located in Odenton just outside of the Seven Oaks community.
Odenton consists of more than 20,000 people as of the last census in 2000. While there are a number of communities, the largest consist of Piney Orchard and Seven Oaks. Piney Orchard is a mixed-use development consisting of apartments, townhomes, condos, and single family homes. With a nature walk looping the community, there is always plenty to do here. Built in the early 1990's, this community features acres of parks, fields, ice skating rink, and swimming pools-both indoor and outdoor and is a great place to live.
Seven Oaks located just outside of Ft. Meade was established in the late 1980's and is home to the towns newest Elementary school. Consisting of all types of housing as well, there are many options to living as well. If you are being relocated to the area, be sure to get in touch with us and we fill you in on all of your housing options.
